A sigh of relief.

After something like 22 hours of travel time we finally made it to Thailand. While tehnically dark, sleeping on the plane didn't exactly qualify as rest. The 3hr layover in China sounds interesting, but at 5 in the morning not so much. And $18 for a cup of noodles and a coffee? Pretty sure i got ripped off. Finally arrive in Bangkok, and disembark with that deer in  headlights look. Messed up our immigration paperwork and got dirty looks and several eye rolls from the government worker. Took the city line train into town from the airport and got to mingle with the locals a bit. Got unsoliceted directions from a very nice woman. Walked for about 20 minutes down one of the busy avenues and experienced all the sights sounds and smells you would imagine. Checked into our hotel at the Swissotel Nai Lert Park and immediately headed for the pool which is surrounded by a wonderful tropical garden setting and was just the respite we needed after such a grueling journey. Had a nice buffet dinner at the hotel restaurant. Amanda nearly falls asleep in the elevator ride back to the room. Finally, time for some rest.
Pre departure checklist complete.
