A brief stop in Khura Buri

Thurs Dec 13, 2012

Our initial visit to Bankok was fun, but now it's time to move on to the next leg of the trip. We gather our things from the awesome Swissotel Nai Lert park and set out in a taxi for Don Muang airport to catch a flight to Phuket, where we will be picked up and driven up to Khura Buri to meet our guides from Andaman Disoveries. Well, everything can't always go as planned, and turns out our ride was a no-show, so we sat at the airport for like an hour trying to arrange an alternate. We finally worked it out with a local cabbie and started on our 3-4 hour journey North.
We arrived at the Andaman Discoveries office and were greeted by Karen our cordinator. We shacked up at Boon Piya Resort which was convinently located a couple blocks from the office and in the middle of the town near an open air market and several small shops. We grabbed some dinner at the night market and came back to the room to eat. I ended up hanging out in the front of the resort and drinking a few beers with an English expat named Oliver who had some great stories to tell about living in Thailand. A good night's sleep, then off to Koh Surin in the morning we go for 3 days of snorkeling.
